James Lileks has a goofy last name that's impossible to remember correctly but I love his books, especially "The Gallery of Regrettable Food" and would give it to every epicurean I know with a sense of humor. The pages are filled with pictures of foods from the 50's that will make English food seem appetizing and could make you pee in your pants if you've had a few kids. Also check out Lileks.com and dig in. Home of "Regrettable Food" and "The Gobbler", a 1960's brochure for a Wisconsin hotel with rooms with names like the "Passion Pit" . You can also peruse drug-company brochures, cigarette ads, 70s fashion. Trust me: you can waste a lot of time here.
