Lots of bag patterns at reprodepot.com. Some easy - some more difficult, but these would compliment the great fabrics on Etsy, no doubt.

What the hell have we been up to?

Admittedly, Fiona and I have not been posting as often as we should. I'm not going to tell you that Fiona has been in an intensive sex-addiction rehab facility in Utah. Why should I? That would be way too personal. Maybe I should tell you that one of our husbands is recovering from that "enlargement" surgery we saved up for with beer can returns, maybe I shouldn't.

The real dirt is that before and after Christmas (the worst effing holiday in the whole wide world), Fiona and I have been plugging away at our new business Run Like a Girl Design. HOW THE HELL ELSE are we going to be able to subsidize our funny, anti-bourgeoisie diatribes for our loyal "Nifty" audience?

The back story is that both of us anal-retentive Virgos used to be graphic designers for like 15+ years and both went on hiatus about five years ago, seemingly simultaneously. Fiona had her cherub, Finn, and I gave birth to a big fat loser and expensive retail store called Hello Martha's Vineyard (and later Hello Portland). $400k down the drain and one really great kid are the results of our efforts but now we are ready to get behind the money train again. We're good enough, we're smart enough, and doggone it, people like us!

To be candid, I designed about five websites single-handedly last year so I have been back to graphic design for a while. I did lots of it for barter and also spent the year sharpening my programming skills. Not to mention this totally suh-weet blog. Fiona has been designing logos here and there for clients and the 52 different businesses she came up with during her toddler time. These include a cupcake cart, flowers-at-a-coffee shop delivery service, vintage consignment furniture co-op, poster company, craft fair organizer, and monkey butler training school (just to name a few...) Only one of those was fake, guess which one.

But now we are ready to roll up our sleeves! Look out world, these two gals together make one really fantastic "portfolio sandwich". Fiona is a "wicked-tight" illustrator and her logos are amazing. First time I saw them I cried in my car. Then I remembered I'm pretty good at whatever it is I do too (mind you, my portfolio spans from oodles of sarcastic greeting cards, celebrity wedding invitations to über-corporate reuters.com).

What's our angle? We're "Rainman" smart, really organized, and we don't make everything a big hassle. We're Moms for chrissake! We've wiped our kids derrieres and noses and made dinners out of canned soup and food-coloring. We're not going to make our clients run around in circles trying to make sense of their shizz, we'll do that for them. As my 1988 high school president, Pedro, once said "If you vote for me all of your wildest dreams  will come true." That's it. Well, that and the fact that we're also KICK-ASS designers.

Our spanky new (professional) website. We're so proud.

Our official announcement (ignore the other stuff you just read):

Guess what's new? Run Like A Girl Design, that's what!

We are web designers for busy people. We offer experience for professionals who are too busy to organize and dictate every detail to their designers.

You can trust us to be thoughtful, intuitive and professional. Think of us as the accountant who will take your shopping bag of receipts and return them with your taxes done properly or the closet organizer who knows which shoes to throw out. You are in good hands knowing we will make the best decisions for you, without interrupting your work flow.

Smart, savvy and intuitive, we’ll quickly understand your business model and will target your marketing priorities better than other designers, all for the same price. That adds up to (stress free) great design, focus and value.

If you or someone you know is looking for updates to an existing website or something from scratch, tell them we'll make it easy as pie.
Oh, and we'd love to help you with your social networking needs too.
