Vintage gameboards on my living room wall, before and after

after, game boards

I have been collecting these vintage games for quite a while. I haven't spent more than maybe ten bucks on any of them so they are quite affordable to collect by my standards.
Within ten minutes of moving to Portland I put the matching gameboards on the picture shelf of my dining room but I never did anything with the boxes which were arguably cooler. Last week I decided to ditch a gold mirror (see below in the "before" picture) and sold it Craigslist pretty quickly. I replaced the ratty Angela Adams rug with this gigantic shag rug from Target that cost a mere $150! We were surprised when the bright rug opened up the room so nicely and it almost never looks dirty because it's so texturized. My vintage click back sofa (in my favorite color) cost me $220. (See one of my very first posts about looking for the perfect sofa here.) Coffee table and side table cost me $110. Orange phone $2. I can't brag about the lamps being especially thrifty, these were pretty pricey and I had them leftover from Hello Martha's Vineyard.

There are almost too many Winner Spinners out there to buy.

Rich Uncle game is pretty easy to buy on Ebay.

 I love these colors.

These Junior Executive Games are my favorites

These boards have been displayed in my dining room for a while.

This cool spinner just makes me smile.

I decided to use these vintage Bingo cards to make promotion pads for Run Like a Girl Design

Kick Ass Glasses and my Crush on Ice

My friend Caitlin came over a few weeks for a par-tay and immediately noticed my cool new glasses. Not only is she sexy, funny and as real as anyone I have ever met in Portland, she is smart because she likes my stuff (or at least says that she does). On the other hand Traci thought my entire set-up was pretty cool so I think she's the bees knees as well (plus Traci has chickens.) These gals also like that I swear in my blog, in fact they are practically daring me to use the word that also describes a fluffy cat!
Busig Glasses from Ikea 6 for $6.99 means they cost $1.16 a piece! Hmmm what can I buy for $1.16? These babies are only sixteen cents shy of ending up in the dollar store! Imagine if you saw these in the friggin Dollar Store?
Orange set is here and blue set is here.
SnallSeems impractical but I am enjoying drinking out of these. They also fit in my cupholders when I need a vodka-tonic on the way to a PTA meeting. You can find both colors here.
Snall and Busig with my Vintage Pitcher Hmm. I need a swedish name for my Vintage Pitcher. I think I will call it a "analöppning".

Point being that I have some pretty retro dishware and I bought the glasses because: a) they are wicked cheap and I am wicked broke. It cost $28 for 24 glasses.

and b) there aren't a lot of non-vintage choices out there to match my Pop Ink melamine plate collection.

Plate Design by: Charles S. Anderson Design which has been, and will always be, my favorite design house.

Today I actually asked my doctor if I could start smoking again. With little time to do much else besides worry about my jaw-dropping financial problems and throw darts at photocopies of hubby, I have little to offer besides some stupid freakin' drink glasses that I really love. I am imagining myself being kicked out the house by the bank and wandering down the driveway like Steve Martin in the Jerk, "I don't need any of this shit, except these cool glasses, my diet coke, oh.. and my Pee Wee Herman house, and these tampons (tampons are expensive!), and my ice crusher... "

New Portable Ice Crusher only $15 @ Amazon

Ok, well now I realize that I am so particular about my stupid soda and my particular glasses and my crushed ice that it may actually be a topic worth touching on. I love ice crushers because I'm Rainman when it comes to ice. I even have a vintage crusher at work. Turns out in 2008, my obsession with ice was validated by a little bulldog called the New York Times. The crushers (above) are on sale at Ebay right now and I found a really inexpensive new one at Amazon for all you "Housewives of New Jersey" that don't like used houses or anything else that's used for that matter.
